As Lithuania is becoming more and more successful at fighting the global pandemic, the city of Vilnius invites all its guests to check out the local events during July. The following month definitely has a lot to offer: from outdoor film screenings to an open architecture weekend. So, if you’re up to experience our wonderful city by visiting some sites off the beaten track, consider at least a few of these Vilnius events in July:

1. Deep Rivers Run Silent
Where? Under Liubartas bridge.
When? All summer. Check the programme here.
How much? Free.
If you are a cinema enthusiast or a live music lover, come to watch film screenings under Liubartas bridge. This year’s programme includes many films directed by women, features of Brazilian cinema, cinema classics and young filmmakers’ works. As many of the pictures are silent, they will be accompanied by live music performances. Spend a romantic evening by the river Neris admiring some of the black & white cinema creations.

2. Coronation of King Mindaugas
Where? All over the world.
When? 6 July.
How much? Free.
Every year since 2009 Lithuanians all around the globe join in singing the national anthem at exactly 9 pm local time on 6 July, the Day of the State (Coronation of King Mindaugas). Since then, Lithuanian communities have sung it everywhere from Santa Monica beach in Los Angeles or the top of the mountains in Kazakhstan to, of course, all over Lithuania. We are more than proud to say that Lithuanians are the only nation that sings their national anthem all over the world once a year. If you’re around, come to the riverside of Neris anywhere between the bridges of Karalius Mindaugas and Žvėrynas and feel the unity of our little, yet strong nation.
3. International Street Theatre Festival "SPOT"
Where? Different spaces around Vilnius, check the programme for details.
When? From 9 July to 12 July.
How much? Free.
Explore Vilnius by attending the open-air performances of street theatre artists. As for most of the events, this year’s situation has severely modified the SPOT festival organizers’ and participants’ plans, however this just means that you will get the unique chance to appreciate the local performers! This lively festival is perfect for all ages and promises lots of surprises. Best of all, it’s completely free.

4. Open House Vilnius

When? 11 and 12 July.
How much? Free, although you need to make a reservation.
If you’re in Vilnius at the time of this festival, don’t miss out. The aim of free Open House festivals is to get the public interested in architecture and learn more about it. By following the passionate volunteer guides, you do not only get acquainted with the architecture, but also learn so much about the history and culture of our capital. Again, the event this year had to be modified: the itineraries only include admiring the buildings from outside. You can also download the free Open House Vilnius app (Google Play, App Store) which will offer three new routes to follow independently all summer.
NB! Open House Vilnius weekend is focused on Lithuanian participants. Still, most of the guides would probably speak English and should help you out. The organizers have promised to take action to attract non-Lithuanian speakers.

5. Street Music Day
Where? Vilnius Old Town and Užupis.
When? 18 July.
How much? Free.
Street music day is an annual celebration of music all over Lithuania. By all over we mean streets, squares, public transport and so on. The idea was brought up by one of our most respected musicians Andrius Mamontovas. On this day, Vilnius is filled with the sounds of music of all genres and it’s performed by both young up-and-coming musicians and stage professionals. Take a stroll around the Old Town and Užupis and jazz your day up!

6. Our Walking Tours

When? We start our daily tours from 1 July.
