Planning a trip to Vilnius and wondering which type of accommodation to choose? The good news is that many possibilities are available, and here are some tips from Vilnius with Locals Team!

Private apartments in Vilnius

Having more privacy and a feeling of home is always nice, especially if you’re on a workation in Vilnius or traveling with your partner or family. In Vilnius there are plenty of options available. For this article we checked availability on the Airbnb platform for April and set the filter for small apartments below €50 per night, as we consider this to be a reasonable price for Vilnius. We found more than 20 options within the Old Town! Booking.com also offers quite a few listings.

During the summer season, the supply will decrease for sure, but if you plan your trip to Vilnius in advance, you can really find a cozy and affordable home for yourself! It is also a good idea to check out other neighborhoods – Žvėrynas, Šnipiškės, Naujamiestis – as they are near the Old Town and relatively cheaper. If you’re planning to stay in Vilnius for a longer period, the local website for accommodation rentals in Lithuania is NT Zemelapis.

Hotel options in Vilnius

If you prefer having your breakfast served and knowing that there are always some people to look out for you, staying at a hotel may be a better option. Vilnius has plenty of hotels within different price ranges: the cheaper hotels start from €40 per night, and you can opt for more luxurious 5-star hotel options for €200-400 per night. Bear in mind that some hotels during the pandemic switched to self-check-in. Therefore, if reception and hotel staff are important to you, don’t forget to read the description carefully! The best hotel locations in Vilnius for exploring the Old Town on foot are within the Old Town itself, Užupis, Šnipiškės, and Naujamiestis.

We can share our newest finding – Bookinn B&B. This accommodation is somewhat between a private home and a hotel: located in Vilnius’ medieval quarter, in a former monastery building constructed in 1564, Bookinn offers both rooms and private suites. We had a chance to meet the host of the place who is super friendly and showed us the hidden hotel – many locals haven’t even noticed that it is here! It’s very quiet, representing a fusion of both old and modern styles, ideal for those seeking out culture and eclectic style. It also has LOTS of books, which add a lovely feeling of quietness and coziness!

Hostel options in Vilnius

If you’re a backpacker and want to meet some amazing people, staying at a hostel is an option in Vilnius as well. The regular price for a bed in a shared dormitory in Vilnius is within the range of €10-25 per night. All hostels in Vilnius are centrally located; just check the reviews and photos for the best pick!

Based on what we hear from the travelers we meet on our Free Walking Tours and our local experience, we recommend checking out  Jimmy Jumps House. This hostel has been here in Vilnius for as long as we can remember, and people keep coming back to it! They sometimes arrange events for their guests, and travelers say that the atmosphere in the hostel is just great!

Camping options in Vilnius

Vilnius is such a fascinating city with many green areas, and camping outside during the summer is a great idea indeed! There are 3 campgrounds near Vilnius and 2 campgrounds in Vilnius city itself. All of them are listed here: Vilnius Camping Options.

Our recommendation goes to Downtown Forest Hostel & Camping: it's located very centrally, allowing you to easily explore both the Republic of Artists and the Old Town of Vilnius on foot while feeling like you are staying in nature and forgetting about the city noise! You can choose either to stay at the hostel and just enjoy the nearby nature or camp in the garden. They also offer the possibility for grilling in the yard and some amazing events also for locals; therefore, you will be surrounded not only by other travelers but also by Lithuanians!
